One hundred years ago, the 19th amendment was ratified, giving women in the U.S. the right to vote. In celebration of the anniversary of women's suffrage, the Philanthropy Connection hosted the discussion panel, "Voting is Voice," in October 2020.
The panel, moderated by WCW Executive Director Layli Maparyan, Ph.D., addressed who was left out of the 19th amendment, who is left out today, and what can be done to drive change. Panelists included Massachusetts State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz; Elizabeth Foster-Nolan, Co-President of the League of Women Voters of MA; Cambridge activist Lori Lander; and Susan Ware, Centennial Historian at the Schlesinger Library, Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.
