Senior Research Scientist Linda Charmaraman, Ph.D., of the Youth, Media & Wellbeing Research Lab at the Wellesley Centers for Women presented as a part of virtual panel hosted by Children and Screens: Institute of Digital Media and Child Development. The workshop featured an interdisciplinary panel of experts including Professor of Psychology at California State University, Larry Rosen, Ph.D., child and adolescent psychiatrist and clinical researcher Kara Bagot, M.D., and postdoctoral researcher at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Emily Weinstein, Ph.D. The panel sought to answer questions such as how much is ‘too much’ social media, and are all platforms created equal? What is the impact of social media on teens’ and tweens’ mental health and development? How can I effectively monitor my teen’s social media use?
