This action project involved mobilization of scholars and policymakers to address economic status and women's educational and professional development.

Conducted research on low-income single mothers and their access to higher education under changing policies in national and state welfare policies. Trained low-income mothers to become researchers and conduct interviews and focus groups with their peers, producing “Low-Income Women’s Access to Higher Education? A Case Study of Welfare Recipients in Boston.” Research Report June 2007.  Presented findings to state and national policymakers; gave testimony numerous times at the state level and presented testimony to Congress, 1994, and 2003. Worked with a national group of researchers and advocates. Published numerous articles, book chapters and monographs (available from the author)
