Jennifer Grossman, Ph.D., and her colleagues asked teens in five urban schools about conversations with extended family on sex, dating, and relationships. It is expected of parents to have one big talk with their teens about these topics, but there are better ways to help teens learn how to stay safe and protected. Is it better for teens to talk with an older sister than with a parent, or maybe an aunt? What matters more: who they talk with or what they talk about? In this video, Dr. Grossman shares the importance of speaking early and often about these topics in order to create open conversations and a more comfortable environment.
