Golf is one of the longest standing sport institutions in the world. Although the United States Golf Association was created in the 1890s, it was not until 1950 that the Ladies' Professional Golf Association (LPGA) was created. Numerous growth and development programs have since emerged to guide and encourage women and girls to the game of golf.
