The overarching goal of this project is to facilitate full citizenship rights for women and children with disabilities in Bangladesh and Nepal. The project adopts a paradigm shift to bring the women's rights movement together with the disability rights movement to focus on the intersectionality of rights of women and children with disabilities. This pioneering model will broaden access for women and children to resources, strengthen laws and practices impacting women and children with disabilities and bolster the initiatives to ratify the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) 2007. Strategies such as building action task forces, convening seminars, developing advocacy manuals, and providing technical assistance to Constitutional reform, law and policy making and litigation to challenge discrimination will be employed to meet the project goals.

Fall 2009: An article that appeared in the Daily Star in Fall 2009 about the ruling from the High Court in Bangladesh directing the respondents to take "immediate measures to implement the Statutory Object ensured in the Disabled Welfare Act 2001 and in the light of recent direction as given by the Honorable Prime Minister on 19th October 2009 in the Fifth National Conference for Disabled Person to improve and bring about the rights of the Disabled persons in the light of CEDAW and UNCRPD for the persons with and for the disabilities faced by the persons especially women with disability in their day to day life" Rangita de Silva-de Alwis provided technical assistance to the Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association through this project.
